Phil Ault, MS Photo

Phil has over ten years of experience in noise and air quality environmental impact analysis, and prepares stand-alone noise and air quality studies, as well as studies in compliance with CEQA and NEPA requirements. Phil has conducted extensive research in environmental and energy topics, including energy efficient project design, sizing of wind and solar PV hybrid generator systems, and project greenhouse gas emission impacts related to global climate change. He has also conducted extensive research into LEED for Neighborhood Developments, a tool developed by the U.S. Green Building Council as a standard for sustainable community design and development, and how such tools can blend with CEQA requirements.

Phil leads the air quality and noise impact assessment team for FCS and manages the Fresno office.

Mary Bean Photo

Mary Bean has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Planning from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

She has over 20 years of experience in land use planning in both the public and private sector as a former County planner from Santa Barbara. Mary specializes in finding ways to streamline the environmental process, by carefully scrutinizing projects and tailoring analyses to produce concise and defensible documents.

Mary had handled numerous projects under her belt ranging from commercial and residential infill; large-scale subdivisions and mixed-use developments; public facilities such as hospitals and fire stations; transportation, transit and heavy rail corridors; data centers; and annexations. Her experience also allows her to be very effective in strategizing with clients about the most efficient approach to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) clearance at the local, state and national levels.

She also serves on panels to educate and inform planners about the ever changing landscape of CEQA regulations.

Kevin Bolland graduated from Colorado State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management and a minor in Global Environmental Sustainability. In addition to his education, Kevin has obtained over 5 years of experience in technical writing, air quality science, land surveying, and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Kevin joined the FCS Environmental Services team in May of 2019, and prepares CEQA/NEPA compliant documents such as Mitigated Negative Declarations, Initial Studies, Environmental Impact Reports, and other related materials. Kevin’s specialties include research, technical writing, database analytics, and environmental science.

Kevin is a member of the Association of Environmental Professionals, and is a certified Naturalist with the Orange County Parks Department. Using his diverse experience, he aims to provide the highest quality service possible, while understanding the goals of clients and individuals alike. Kevin is a forward thinking individual and is eager to dedicate his talents to achieving goals with the future of our shared world in mind.

As Vice President, Business Development, Jason is responsible for working with clients around North America to provide them solutions that meet their needs. With more than 26 years' experience, Jason has been providing his knowledge and expertise in planning, environmental impact assessment and public policy analysis to major corporations, attorneys, various business entities, and state, regional, and local jurisdictions throughout California and the western United States.

As a recognized leader in his field, Jason has worked on a wide range of complex and controversial projects including downtown revitalization plans, major mixed-use developments, large/small scale residential developments, regional transportation corridor and utility transmission line studies, and commercial and industrial developments. Jason is a recognized expert in the management and analysis of Environmental Impact Reports, Environmental Impact Studies, Environmental Assessments, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Specific Plans and water/wastewater resource and hazardous material studies, planning land use, aesthetic analysis, transportation/circulation, geology, hydrology, public services, utilities and cultural resources.

Jason is also quite active in speaking at seminars and conferences where he regularly provides informative presentations to public agencies, private organizations, and the public at large. Jason earned his Bachelor's degree in Urban Geography from California State University at Fullerton.

With an international background in countries across the Pacific, Ashley Chin's commitment to and interest in sustainability and sustainable tourism spans years of work in Hawaii and New Zealand. An alumna of the University of Auckland's Graduate School of Management, Ashley subscribes to the belief that creativity and storytelling in marketing can foster real connections between an organization and its audience. She hopes to help her brilliant colleagues at FCS/ADEC Innovations bring the company's story to life and communicate its message of environmental stewardship and sustainability to a global audience.

Megan Crawford Photo

Megan Crawford is an Associate Scientist who joined the Environmental, Social, and Governance Team in August 2015. Megan provides substantial assistance working with clients on a variety of sustainability projects, including CDP consulting services, GHG inventories, Corporate Social Responsibility reports, and more. Megan has strong interests in environmental sustainability and sustainable development through environmental design (e.g. LEED, solar, green building, xeriscaping, etc.).

Megan graduated from the University of California, Irvine in June 2015 with a B.S. in Earth System Science and minors in Biological Sciences and Global Sustainability. While at UCI, Megan was involved with sustainability on campus through PowerSave Campus Program and the Global Sustainability Resource Center. Megan also interned with the Center for Environmental Biology, working in conjunction with Irvine Ranch Conservancy and Crystal Cove Alliance on environmental projects, including vegetation monitoring, ecological restoration, and informal science education. In addition, Megan participated in undergraduate research and completed a senior thesis on Arctic lake productivity in connection with the carbon cycle.


Having worked in both traditional environmental science positions on the East coast after graduating from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, and in software and emerging technology as analyst on our CleanChain team in California, Alex is persistent about achieving a more just, sustainable world through her work.



Hunter Donovan Photo

After graduating from Santa Clara University in 2018 with a degree in Environmental Science and Theatre, Hunter Donovan has joined the Environmental, Social, and Governance team at ADEC Innovations. She has been working on CDP related projects as well as CSR reports and GHG inventories. She is hoping to become an environmental lawyer in the future and has an interest in environmental justice.



Robert Francisco Photo

Robert Francisco offers 25 years of experience in dealing with land-use planning and regulatory compliance issues. He possesses a thorough understanding of wetland permitting requirements, ecology of wetland systems, wetland restoration planning, Section 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 106 of the National Historical Preservation Act, and special status species issues pursuant to Section 7 and 10 of the Endangered Species Act.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with a minor in Biological Sciences from California State University, Sacramento.

A published author, Robert has written several articles on vernal pool creation, streambed restoration, and habitat assessment. He is also a frequent lecturer on compliance issues related to the Clean Water Act and related compliance issues.

Before joining FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS), he was responsible for growing the Jones & Stokes Northern California offices that ultimately generated $22M in annual revenues. It was because of this significant success that Robert was recruited to FCS. He has expansive operational expertise and is currently responsible for helping to govern and position the Company for geographic and service expansion.

Over the years, Robert has worked on or managed nationwide permits and individual permits including the preparation of complex 404(b)(1) alternatives analysis in support of documenting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.

As Senior Marketing Manager, Jacki leverages twenty years’ experience on both the client and agency side to translate internal and external client market situations into actionable plans. Creating go-to-market strategies for ADEC ESG Solutions and FirstCarbon Solutions’ (FCS) business units and products, including CleanChain, MetricsTrac, and FoodChain, and multi-channel MarCom plans for strategic partnerships with CDP and The ZDHC Programme, allows her to marry her affinity for analytics and savvy creative with organizations that provide positive global impact. Jacki earned her BA in Political Science with a minor in Communication Studies from The College of New Jersey.

Adrienne Garcia Photo

Adrienne Garcia is an Assistant ESG Proposal & Project Manager for the ADEC Innovations team. Hailing from Huntington Beach, California, Adrienne attended UC San Diego and graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Systems (Environmental Policy) in 2016. Prior to her time with ADEC, she interned with the City of San Diego's Environmental Services Department and served as an Americorps CivicSpark Fellow for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG). She is highly interested in implementing more sustainable practices and policies in the corporate environment. She has enjoyed assisting the ADEC team in developing meaningful proposal and technical support and looks forward to continuing to work with individuals that are dedicated to creating a more sustainable future.

Alicia Godlove Photo

Alicia Godlove is a Project Manager on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)/Sustainability Team. She has nearly 10 years’ experience in various aspects of sustainability including green auditing, carbon accounting, energy efficiency improvements, and responsible sourcing.

Most recently, Alicia was a Manager, Materials Services managing a team responsible for auditing programs and conducting training to expand local auditing and sales capacity to China, India, and Europe. Alicia was the Senior Technical Associate at SCS Global Services where she was the project manager for more than 40 domestic and international clients and conducted over 30 onsite audits in the US, Europe, and China to verify environmental systems, workplace conditions, and quality management systems to standards based on ISO 9001.

In addition, Alicia held a number of different roles at firms including Strategic Sustainability Consulting, DNV GL (formerly KEMA, Inc.), William J. Clinton Foundation and Spotts, Stevens & McCoy, Inc. With her Master’s Thesis Group Project on community sustainability planning in Santa Paula, CA, Alicia received her Master of Environmental Science and Management with a Specialization in Corporate Environmental Management from the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara. She also received her B.A. in Biology from Pomona College.

Chris Haddock Photo

After graduating from the University of California, San Diego; Chris Haddock worked as a programmer on Environmental Information Management Systems.

As a programmer he learned the complexity of air calculations and the flexibility needed for hazardous waste conversion from gallons to pounds.

From programming, it was a quick transition to working with clients to translate their problems into technical specifications documents, estimating costs and justifying those costs to both the client and the sales staff who both angled to lower the cost and cut the schedule in-order to ink the deal.

After learning the lesson to take short-discomfort in order to achieve long term success; Mr. Haddock was promoted to his dream job of Product Manager.

With over 11 years’ experience in air quality, greenhouse gases, and sustainability planning, George is ADEC’s Senior Scientist, Air Quality & Climate Change, supporting the Air Quality/GHG Environmental Services group and ESG group. George has been responsible for the Air Quality and GHG sections for EIR/EISs and emissions inventories for climate action planning projects in California, throughout the US, and internationally. George graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BS in Environmental and Resource Science.

Kathleen McCully joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) as an Environmental Analyst in April 2019. As a part of the Environmental Services Team, she primarily assists with analyzing environmental impacts of development projects and writing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents. Kathleen graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 2018 with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences. Kathleen has taken the lead on keeping the Walnut Creek office’s new California Green Business Certification and helping all other California FCS offices begin the journey to becoming an official Green Business.

Dinali Mallikage Photo

Dinali Mallikage is a graduate of University of California, Irvine with a B.S. in Earth System Science and a minor in Informatics. At ADEC Innovations, Dinali is in the ESG Software Development Team as a Software Product Manager working on the development of CDP Insights and ZDHC Gateway software applications. These solutions aim to manage GHG emissions, Water Quality, Chemicals Products in the global supply chain. In particular she focuses on management for nonprofits and sustainability coalitions, such as CDP and Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC). Dinali also has a strong interest in automating sustainability reporting practices and improving data visualizations into ADEC Innovations software solutions.

Karlee McCracken Photo

With an associate's degree in Computer Science from Riverside Community College and an active member of California Geographic Information Associates (CGIA), Karlee McCracken has used her computer expertise in the creation of various mapping standards.

She has over 9 years of experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and graphic design as a GIS Technician before she joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) in 2001. Karlee has then been involved in vegetation mapping, delineation of waters of the US and waters of the state, critical habitat mapping, California natural diversity database mapping and project specific environmental impacts.

Karlee is highly skilled with software such as ArcGIS, Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat. Her expertise in photo manipulation, layout design and color management helps when she creates brochures, flyers, posters and other marketing materials.

Matthew McLaughlin’s fifteen-plus years of experience in Project and Operations Management is helping FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) grow into a leader in the Sustainability industry.

His strategic planning, management of day-to-day operations, and support for critical projects allows FCS’ technical specialists and Directors the ability to work with clients from all over the world, ensuring their business is not only compliant, but at the forefront of sustainability and environmentalism. 

Along with being the behind-the-scenes support, Matthew uses his years of experience in process improvement and technical writing to help find ways to make the company run more smoothly with clearly defined policies and procedures, documented processes, and updated and modern technologies.

Matthew graduated from the University of Florida and currently resides in Newport Beach, CA.

Spencer Pignotti Photo

Spencer Pignotti joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) as an Environmental Analyst in June 2017 to support the Environmental Services (ES) team with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents. Spencer graduated from University of California at Davis in 2016 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Management and a minor in Professional Writing. On the ES team Spencer primarily assists project managers with writing sections of Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MNDs), and other CEQA related documents. In particular, Spencer analyzes potential environmental impacts resulting from development of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Spencer also supports the Air Quality and Noise team by taking noise measurements and analyzing potential noise impacts.

Patrick Schultz Photo

Patrick is responsible for working collaboratively across all FCS operations and business units to deliver outstanding services and products to our clients worldwide. With over 25 years’ experience in operations management, process improvement and project management, Patrick most recently joins FCS from First American Corporation, where he was the Vice President of Strategy, responsible for management and oversight of over $40 million in capital projects. Prior to that, Patrick held positions including Divisional Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Business Development at First American.

Patrick is a native of Washington state and now resides in Orange County, California. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

Sharolyn Vettese Photo

Sharolyn Vettese is the true earth guardian.

For 12 years, Sharolyn was the volunteer co-chair of the YongeStreen Area Ratepayer Associations in Toronto, a coalition of community representatives that participated in urban re-development to create a new city center. She also enjoyed mentoring a national Top 20 Under 20™ award recipient.

A co-founder of Wind Simplicity™, her company manufactures products with a sustainable product lifecycle. A small wind turbine entrepreneur who supports onsite electricity generation, Sharolyn owns several patents, and is a practitioner and supporter of triple-bottom-line accounting that values the planet and people as well as profit.

The host of The Earth Guardian Radio Show, she promoted individuals with innovative approaches in tackling the challenge of climate change.

As a mother, Sharolyn is deeply concerned about climate change and she hopes to inspire more and more people to help to minimize human impact on the planet in order to secure a sustainable future for generations to come.


Philip graduated from California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology with a focus in Ecosystem Ecology and Management. As ADEC Innovations' technical lead for various CDP consulting services, GHG inventories, and CSR reports, he has extensive experience working with multinational companies to evaluate and improve the sustainability performance of their operations and supply chains. 


Janna Waligorski Photo

Janna Waligorski, MA, has extensive experience in preparing CEQA and NEPA documentation and has prepared a wide range of planning and environmental impact analysis documents for jurisdictions throughout Northern California.  She has actively overseen the compilation and completion of Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Initial Studies (IS/MNDs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), Addendums, and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Programs (MMRPs).  She has completed CEQA and/or NEPA documentation for mixed use, residential, commercial, retail, transportation, industrial, recreational, and institutional projects, with extensive work on constraints analyses, land use compatibility, transportation and circulation issues, farmland conversation, and visual impacts (aesthetics).  Ms. Waligorski also offers experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and graphic applications, which allows her to understand and articulate complex spatial concepts.

Jessica Wang joined as an assistant project manager in June 2017 to support both the Environmental Services (ES) Team and the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Team. On the ES team, Jessica specializes in air quality and greenhouse gas analyses for land use developments undergoing the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) process. On the ESG team, Jessica assists in various sustainability projects, such as CDP consulting services, greenhouse gas inventories, and corporate social responsibility reports. In addition to that, Jessica provides support to the Marketing Team by leading as the technical liaison for the ESG Team.

Before joining FCS, Jessica worked as an air quality and greenhouse gas analyst at Urban Crossroads, Inc., an environmental consulting firm.

Ben Wilde Photo

Since joining ADEC Group in 2008, Ben Wilde has worked with FirstCarbon Solutions’ clients worldwide to develop outsourcing and technology services to help make their sustainability strategies more efficient. Having 10 years’ experience in the Business Process Outsourcing sector, he is more than capable in working with the clients to best suit their needs.

Ben has worked with numerous UK public and private sector organizations to develop data capture and management systems specifically in the document management arena.

With a bachelor's degree in Business and Economics from the University of East Anglia, Ben helped lead the commercialization of over a dozen Cleantech and Biotech projects up to 2009 via a $3m innovation fund he co-founded for early stage ventures.

Ben is also a qualified GHG Verifier for Projects and Inventories against ISO14065 by the GHG Management Institute.

Wendy Ye Photo

Wenting (Wendy) Ye joined FCS as a Sustainability Coordinator in January 2016 to support the ESG team, and work on CDP and ZDHC-related projects. Before joining FCS, Wendy was an Analyst at Element Capital Advisors responsible for conducting sustainability-related market research and quantitative analyses.

Prior to that, Wendy has worked on business sustainability and environmental accounting projects for Domtar (one of the largest pulp and paper companies in North America), BASF Corporation (a multi-national chemicals corporation), and ACTIA Corp (an automobile manufacturing company). She was also a Corporate Communication and Sustainability Specialist at Bayer (China) Ltd. Co.

Wendy graduated from the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University with a Master's Degree in Environmental Management and concentrated in Energy & Environment. She also holds the Certificate of Sustainable System Analysis which is issued by Duke Energy Initiative, and earned her B.E. in Environmental Engineering at Donghua University in China.

Wendy has published four papers in national journals and international conferences. She was the winner of the Bayer Young Environmental Envoy award in 2012, one of the top 20 recipients in China by UNEP & Bayer Group. In the same year, she won the second Prize of Klaus Teopfer Environmental Innovation Student Competition awarded by UNEP and Germany Consulate in Shanghai.

Wendy has a strong interest in business sustainability and renewable energy.

As part of the Environmental Services Team, Liza has experience analyzing Commercial Corridors in East Oakland, as well as fundraising and event organizing. She was a Resident in Social Enterprise (RISE) fellow with SPUR in Oakland, and has also worked for the Surplus Line Association of California, the Fund for the Public Interest, and CALPIRG. Liza graduated from Pitzer College with a major in Environmental Studies, and works on IS/MNDs and EIRs.



Frank Coyle Photo

Frank Coyle, REA, is highly experienced in urban and regional planning in both the private and public sectors. He has prepared and managed a wide variety of high-quality policy planning and environmental documents achieving an impressive record of accomplishment in successfully managing projects through the entitlement process.

Mr. Coyle possesses strong knowledge and understanding of development economics, governing agencies and bureaucratic procedures. He has reviewed and processed various specific plans, environmental impact reports, managed a wide variety of site specific projects through the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) process, evaluated general plan amendments, zone changes and subdivision requests, prepared and presented reports, and made recommendations to various planning bodies. His thorough knowledge of CEQA and experience with the principles and practices of urban and regional planning, zoning and subdivision concepts makes him a leader in the industry and asset to the FCS team.

In December of 2008, Frank was appointed to the City of Redlands Climate Action Task Force by the mayor; the purpose of this group is to identify strategies for the City to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Greg Gasperecz is an Environmental Engineer residing in New Orleans, LA.  He is the creator of The Enviance System, an environmental management information system used by numerous fortune 500 companies.  Greg graduated from Louisiana State University with a Masters of Environmental Engineering in 1978.  His career includes regulatory, consulting, and software development.  He enjoys fishing, dancing, cooking, and wilderness hiking.


Michele Carchman Photo

Michele Carchman is responsible for the overall Sustainability business within FCS. As a key member of FCS' senior leadership team, Michele leads the strategic vision of the team and the introduction of innovation as the market and customer needs evolve.

Michele is also responsible for managing solutions across: energy and carbon management, supply chain sustainability, life cycle assessments, corporate social responsibility, data processing and management, and software solutions.

Michele brings extensive experience at the intersection of environmental sustainability and technology having spent nearly 25 years focused on marketing, sales operations, enterprise software, and software as a service and has served in a variety of executive and marketing positions at AT&T, Lucent, ChemConnect, Enviance, and NTN Buzztime.

Chinmay Damle joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) as an Environmental Analyst in October 2017. As a part of the Environmental Services Team, he primarily assists with analyzing potential environmental impacts resulting from developments and writing IS/MNDs and EIRs. Chinmay graduated from University of California, Irvine in 2016 with a B.S. in Earth System Science and a minor in Global Sustainability. He is very interested in the fields of environmental science, sustainability and urban planning.



Maddie Dolan joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) as an Environmental Services Intern in May 2019. She is a rising senior at the University of California, Berkeley, double majoring in Environmental Economics & Policy and Society & Environment. Before interning at FirstCarbon Solutions, she worked for Bay Area Green Tours and Global Green Economic Forum in Singapore. She currently holds positions as UC Berkeley Panhellenic Vice President of Sustainability and Co-President of “Greening the Greeks.” Maddie is particularly passionate about Environmental Justice issues and hopes to continue her education with a Master’s in Public Policy or a related field.

Robert Goldsand Photo

A California State University Sacramento College of Business Administration Alumni; Robert Goldsand is a Customer Success Associate for Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)/Sustainability Software Team.

Robert has a wealth of experience in the Software as a Service (SAAS) industry. He’s worked for multiple Silicon Valley and San Francisco based startups that have grown into large scale successfully companies. He’s taken on various roles including Sales, Marketing and Customer Success. He learned early in college that his ideal career would be that of which where he can mix his love for the environment, technology and genuine satisfaction of helping people, into one. Eventually after searching high and low, he found a home and dream job at ADEC innovations.

As a Customer Success Associate, Robert brings his positive energy and experience to help hundreds of customers successfully adopt a numerous ADEC Innovations software programs.  Making customers happy and future feature enhancements is what keeps him up at night. When he’s not working, he’s researching the latest in technology and obsessing over his favorite sports teams.

Rachel Reese Photo

A licensed architect with her Bachelor's from Michigan's Taubman College, Rachel Reese has an eye for design and building trends. After seven years of experience at an architectural firm, Rachel was eager to add to the ongoing conversation regarding sustainable building practices, so she returned to higher education, earning a Master’s of Sustainability Solutions from Arizona State's prestigious School of Sustainability. With a new understanding of emerging sustainable technologies, Rachel became proficient in marrying aesthetics and function in an increasingly environmentally-friendly world.

As a doctoral student at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design, Rachel hopes to contribute to both public and private sectors with enhanced research on sustainable building and urban planning strategies. Rachel is optimistic for the future of the construction industry, which she firmly believes can reduce its carbon emissions and resources waste through better materials and smarter practices. When she isn't busy teaching sustainability and design courses at the university, Rachel consults with contractors in efforts to educate them on the benefits of eco-friendliness.


T.J. Reynoso is a Customer Success Associate with more than 15 years of experience in account management, marketing, and advertising. He specializes in e-commerce and digital marketing, and has proven skills in leadership, process/procedure development, data analysis, project management, account management, sales/business development, and client success management.


Rae Steinbach Photo

Rae is a graduate of Tufts University with a combined International Relations and Chinese degree. After spending time living and working abroad in China, she returned to NYC to pursue her career and continue curating quality content. Rae is passionate about travel, food, and writing, of course.



With nearly 10 years of experience in various roles related to sustainability, May worked with various industries in both the public and private sector, with the focus on quantification of sustainability data, corporate sustainability responsibility reporting, energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies. In addition, May also has experience in working with carbon offsets, local/international environmental compliance, green building strategies, etc. May helped an international action sports footwear and apparel manufacturer to achieve carbon neutrality through the development of sustainability initiatives and an offset program. Moreover, May was involved with the City of Santa Monica and the City of Los Angeles during the early adoption and development of sustainable city planning and green building planning.

May graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. degree in Environmental Analysis and Design from the School of Social Ecology. May is also a LEED Accredited Professional since 2007 and is fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin.

Michael Dice graduated with a master's degree in Bio-archaeology in Arizona State University in 1993. A Registered Professional Archeologist, he has 27 years’ experience on the field and 12 years serving as a Cultural Resource Management consultant in the State of California.

He brings his extensive field experience with prehistory, historical archaeology and architectural history into each document that he writes.

A man of few words yet highly respected among his peers, Michael has written and co-written over 400 research documents on archaeology and architectural history in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. Michael is extremely interested in unique Southern California historical events of the 20th Century, and screenplays.

Monica Dwight joined FirstCarbon Solutions (FCS) as an Environmental Services Intern in June 2018. At FCS, she contributes to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents, writes blog posts, and produced a white paper on climate adaptation. Passionate about environmental sustainability, she is eager to gain a better understanding of CEQA from her accomplished peers at FCS.

She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a double major in Spanish and Political Science- Public Service with an emphasis in environmental policy. During her time in college, she illustrated her dedication to environmental causes as an Environmental Education Instructor for Sprout Up, a Water Program Intern at the Local Government Commission, and Director of the Whole Earth Festival.

With more than 27 years of experience in corporate procurement and planning responsibilities with Canadian Bechtel Engineering, Johnson & Johnson and Ontario Hydro, David Katz took on a leading role when he established Sustainable Resource Management in 1993. He has also developed Sustainable Resource Management Consortium with other energy management consultants in collaboration on all types of energy related projects.

His training in California on Applied Decision Analysis, Expert Systems and the Analytical Hierarchy Process has provided him with the know how to train and consult executives in the application of the said programs. He continues to provide the Industrial and Building Energy Expertise (IBEX) open learning energy management course after the pilot project with Centennial College and Ontario Power Authority Conservation funding ended. David is also trained as a Business Development expert reviewer for Sustainable Technology Development Canada.

A former electric power and emissions broker at Ontario Hydro, a member of the Environmental Markets Association and trained in CO2 trading, David can provide expertise for the upcoming carbon trading and tax regimes. He is also a member of the Continental Automated Building Association and Intelligent and Integrated Building Council and co-developer which enables him to provide the Building Intelligence Quotient rating program to complement the GREEN and Energy rating programs.

The projects and programs which David has immersed himself in clearly show that he is a strong supporter of sustainability.

An environmentalist right to the very core of his being, Charles Holcombe has over 7 years’ experience as an environmental planner and project manager.

He specializes in environmental impact assessment, and urban and regional land use planning within Southern California. Having possessed a strong technical understanding of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environment Policy Act (NEPA), Charles has a wide range of project experience developing environmental compliances strategies under those two acts that covers industrial facilities, residential and commercial projects, educational and public facilities, and roadways and regional recreation centers.

He has authored general plan updates, specific plans, environmental impact reports and environmental assessments.

An alumnus of University of Redlands, he has both a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a master's degree in Business Administration. Charles is also a certified project manager and financial consultant, and a State of California real estate agent.

Amanda is a Sustainability Analyst for FCS. She joined the Environmental, Social, and Governance team in October, 2015 and primarily works on CDP assessments and scoring as well as various projects for the company. Amanda recently graduated from the University of Redlands with a B.S. in Environmental Science and minors in Biology and Human-Animal Studies. While in college, Amanda studied climate, environmental issues, and sustainable development abroad in both Copenhagen, Denmark as well as in Palau.

Teacher, politician, mediator and all around nice guy, Gordon Kubanek has dabbled in anything and everything he puts his mind to.

He began his career as a Chemical Engineer and later moved to the academe as a Science teacher. He also taught almost every Math, Chemistry and Physics subject. He also became a representative of the school board teacher union for Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), where he not only represented the teachers but also acted as a quality improvement liaison representative between the school board and American Society for Quality’s (ASQ) Koalaty Kid Program.

Later on, he became a candidate and Riding President for the Green Party of Ontario and then Canada at large. Over the course of two elections, Gordon demonstrated the ability to communicate with all types of audiences and interests about the many complex energy and environmental issues that impact and drive government policy.

As a system dynamics modeling and simulation expert, he worked with the Department of National Defense to help improve personnel and equipment-maintenance for the Canadian Defense Services Program.

Gordon speaks fluent German and has proven to be a quick learner whose math, physics, and chemistry expertise and technical know-how, combined with his people skills, makes him a valuable member of any team.

Ashley is a Biologist who joined the FCS Team in May 2016. She has worked for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Bay Area) where she was a Science Aide for 3 years, responsible for field surveys, data collection, and training. Prior to that, Ashley held positions including a contractor Biologist position with Benchmark Environmental Consultants in Dallas Texas, where she assisted in endangered species habitat assessments, and wetland and vegetation surveys. Ashley was also a wildlife biologist intern with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in Arlington Texas.

Ashley graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce with a Bachelors of Biology, Wildlife Conservation Sciences.

A Registered Professional Archeologist since 2001, Kenneth Lord is an alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in Anthropology and a doctorate in Archeology with an emphasis in cultural ecology in the University of Texas, Austin.

35 years as a professional archaeologist hasn't stopped Kenneth from doing good work as an environmental activist. He has managed environmental resources groups for several privately-held environmental consulting firms in western United States. He has been involved in the planning, surveying, excavating and analyzing of archeological projects in 13 U.S. States as well as in Puerto Rico and Honduras.

His love for historic relevance can be seen with his interests in cultural resource management, southwestern archaeology, and environmental reconstruction for archaeological remains, prehistoric rock art, and consultation with Native American Groups.

A man dedicated to environmental management, Trevor Macenski goes above and beyond the call of duty to do what's right.

Trevor is intimately familiar with both local and regional planning and regulatory issues in Northern California.

He has a wide range of project experience developing environmental compliance strategies under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) for industrial facility expansions; well and drilling operations, residential and commercial projects; educational, correctional, and public assessment practitioner.

Trevor has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from the University of California, Davis and a master's degree in Environmental Science and Policy for the Johns Hopkins University. He also taught environmental impact assessment methodologies at Fresno State and UC Davis.

An environmental scientist, environmental planner, and project manager, he specializes in environmental impact assessment and urban and regional land use planning for both the public and private sectors. He possesses strong technical understanding of the Subdivision Map Act, the Permit Streamlining Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

He is the Director of the Superior California Chapter of the Association of Environmental Professionals, a certified wetland delineator and is a State of California Registered Environmental Assessor #08240.

Angela McIntire has made it her duty to preserve our world's wildlife.

She has over 9 years of experience conducting herpetological, mammalian and avian surveys, as well as preparing jurisdictional delineation for regulatory permits. She's an expert in conducting biological resources and drainage systems using Geographic Information Systems.

Angela holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning from the University of California, Davis and obtained a Juris Doctorate with an emphasis in Environmental and Land use law from Gonzaga University School of Law. These degrees bring significant expertise in performing legal research pertaining to environmental law, water and land use. She has drafted numerous legal memoranda, pleadings and briefs regarding National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the Federal Clean Water Act, California Marine Life Protection Act and the Federal Highway Administration section 4(f).

Her proficiency in US Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation standards and protocols; Clean Water Act Sections 404, 401 and 402; the Porter Cologne Water Quality Act; Fish and Game Lake and Streambed Alteration has assisted her writing environmental documents such as the preparation of Environmental Impact Reports, Mitigated Negative Declarations, and due diligence reports.

An active member of the California State Bar Association, American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources, Sacramento County Bar Association's Environmental, Land Use and Natural Resource Law Sections, Angela makes an effort to ensure the environment has a fighting chance of survival.

Chrystal Meier has over nine years of experience in both the private and public sectors specializing in rule development, rule implementation, environmental document preparation and review, criteria and greenhouse gas emissions modeling and analysis, inter-agency coordination, and public education.

Her technical expertise is in air quality analysis, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) analysis, transportation conformity analysis and indirect source review. Chrystal served as an Air Quality Specialist with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) where she was responsible for preparation and review of technical documents and analyses, including CEQA documents, rule development, and environmental law interpretation.

Additionally, she has also provided training courses on implementation of CEQA, modeling and analysis procedures. She also organized and led meetings with public agencies, interest groups, and consultants.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from California State University, Fresno. She is a member of the Association of Environmental Professionals.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Policy and a Minor in English from Chapman University, Brittnei Miller is focused on pursuing her many environmental passions and bettering the planet at both local and global levels. With a love of wildlife, sustainability, and a strong interest in earth systems as well as policy, and four years educational experience in the environmental field and various environmentally focused internships with Orange County Public Works in their Watershed Department and the California Wildlife Center as a wildlife rehabilitation intern, Brittnei has experience working with different environmental policies, regulatory guidelines, and the more hands-on side of the environmental world while rehabilitating wildlife. Brittnei even has her rabies vaccination as a testimony to the degree to which she aspires to one day actively participate in wildlife rehabilitation.

In addition, as the author of the Food Sustainability chapter in the first Environmental Sustainability Audit of Chapman University in 2013, Brittnei enjoys creatively approaching environmental concepts while researching, understanding, and analyzing different aspects of what it means to be sustainable. By request of a Chapman professor, Brittnei created an important summary of the United Nations Group of Expert's reports on the presence of the M23 in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Eastern Region of the Congo for “Falling Whistles”, a non-profit organization. In addition to environmental researching, Brittnei has a passion for environmental writing and hopes to one day further study the impacts of carbon emissions on wildlife and ecosystems and the implications that has towards humans and the rest of the planet.

In the near future, Brittnei hopes to attend graduate school to earn her Masters of Science degree in an area of her choice. Eventually, Brittnei’s goal is to travel to Africa to do more research on the cause and effect relationship between greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystems, and African wildlife. In the mean time, Brittnei also works with the Anaheim Ducks NHL Organization as a Power Player and cheers on her favorite team at every home game. Outside of work, Brittnei loves to travel, hike, spend time with family, and write as much as possible in her journal.

Tommy’s field survey experience includes conducting habitat assessments, biological resources studies, year-long avian studies, year-long plant and wildlife inventory surveys, bird-use-counts (BUCs), wildlife corridor studies, and focused protocol surveys for a number of sensitive plant and wildlife species. Tommy has conducted focused protocol surveys for the following species: Marvin’s onion, many-stemmed dudleya, San Fernando Valley spineflower, Nevin’s barberry, Davidson’s bush mallow, slender mariposa lily, Coachella Valley milk-vetch, Quino checkerspot butterfly, coastal California gnatcatcher, least Bell’s vireo, burrowing owl, desert tortoise, Arroyo toad, flat-tailed horned lizard, Los Angeles pocket mouse, and San Bernardino kangaroo rat.

He also conducted monitoring surveys and maintenance activities for restoration projects throughout Southern California, and assisted with formal wetland delineations for projects requiring wetlands permitting under US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), and California Department of Fish & Game (CDFG) jurisdiction.

He earned his B.A. in Biology from Minot State University in North Dakota on a football scholarship.

As a Certified Planner of the American Planning Association (APA) with 7 years of progressively responsible experience in community and project planning, Margaret Partridge has made an effort to ensure that her work will have an impact in today's world.

She has worked for both the public and the private sectors as a city planner and as an environmental planner at private consulting firms in Orange County. She has also authored multiple complex environmental documents, including Notices of Exemption, Initial Studies and Environmental Impact Report sections, per the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

An alumna from the University of California, Irvine, Margaret has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Analysis (Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning. She is an active member in the American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association, Association of Environmental Professionals, Orange County Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, and is a LEED Green Associate.

Joaquin Pacheco Photo

Joaquin Meckler-Pacheco joined FirstCarbon Solutions as a biological consultant in June of 2018 on the Environmental Services Biology Team. He carries out various field studies, such as rare plant surveys, habitat assessments, and wetland delineations, to ensure the requirements of CEQA are followed. He drafts, reviews, and analyzes Biological Resource Assessments (BRA), Environmental Impact Reports (EIR), Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (ISMND). In particular, Joaquin evaluates potential impacts from project development through field surveys and written documents and works towards developing strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies to effectively communicate project goals. Joaquin graduated from the University of California at Davis in June of 2018 with a major in Conservation Biology and a minor in Education. He previously worked in a variety of research positions, including a plant ecology lab and fire disturbance lab, and he was a member of Camp Kesem at UC Davis.

Steve Paff has nearly thirty years of varied experience in the environmental and software arenas. He spent 10 years developing and commercializing cleanup technologies for Superfund sites, including the development of biofiltration for air treatment and a thermophilic process for the treatment of explosives-contaminated wastewaters. Steve developed training programs for the US EPA and PA Department of Environmental Protection for hazardous waste management, and helped found an auditing program for waste treatment sites.  Steve’s software development experience spans over twenty years, and includes product management and sales for EnviroWare, an Oracle-based software system for the hazardous waste industry;  development of the management software at a nuclear waste cleanup site in Idaho Falls;  and product management for a waste management compliance software system for generators of hazardous wastes. At ADEC Innovations, Steve is the Senior Product Manager responsible for CleanChain, ADEC Innovations’ award-winning platform for supply chain chemical and sustainability management.  
Steve holds a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering and Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie-Mellon University, and a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

Bob Prasse Photo

Bob Prasse has more than 28 years of diverse and challenging work experience as an environmental/urban planner.

His varied background includes working as both an employee and consultant for small to large public jurisdictions, a regional planning agency, and private developers.

Bob's broad experience includes project management for: EIRs and other environmental documents; specific plans and planned developments; other planning and infrastructure studies; impact fee studies; preparation of land use ordinances; development and design review; and directing the work of other consultants.

While working for a private developer, he was responsible for coordinating the review and approval of on-site and off-site infrastructure improvement plans with the engineering and planning staff of public agencies. Bob also managed the design and development of a water infrastructure capital facilities site, including the development and equipping of two water wells, installation of a small water treatment plant and product conveyance pipelines.

His most recent work was managing the preparation and processing of EIRs and other environmental documents for large-scale planned developments, industrial/warehouse distribution centers, infill residential developments and a variety of projects for school districts.

Bob has a bachelor's degree in Public Affairs and also a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Southern California.

Collin Ramsey has gained valuable professional and academic insight into environmental planning and policy issues through years of practical and educational experience.

Collin has also contributed on several mixed-use projects with sustainable design, construct and operation. In 2011, he received his LEED Green Associate certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the authority in green building design.

Collin has a Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s degree in Environmental Studies from California State University, Fullerton. He is an active member of the Association of Environmental Professionals, American Planning Association and the U.S. Green Building Council.

Iain Robertson is a Territory Executive for Third Planet Energy, an energy management and metering company located in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Prior to joining Third Planet Energy, Iain founded and successfully operated RePower Canada, an award winning energy consulting auditing firm with a diverse list of over 100 clients in virtually every industry including local small businesses, regional shopping malls and associations.

Prior to founding RePower Canada, Iain was Vice President for an energy services brokerage for almost 3 years during the infancy of the energy consulting industry. Before entering the energy business, he had a 25 year career in the hotel industry with more than 15 of those years as a financial controller.

Presently, he sits on the Sustainable Systems post-graduate course Advisory Committee for Georgian College in Barrie. Iain is also engaged in public speaking and sitting on advisory panels related to energy auditing and corporate sustainability.

Greg has worked in the environmental, health, safety and sustainability data management industry for more than 20 years with several software firms including EnviroMetrics, Essential Technologies, Environmental Support Solutions and Enviance. During his time at those companies, Greg held a number of various, progressive positions including product development, product management, implementation services, consulting services and account management.

Most recently, Greg was the VP of Product Development at AutoPilot, where he had end-to-end business responsibility for launching a new, disruptive software product into the government market.

Greg received a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario Canada and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston.

Kevin's many areas of expertise consist of municipal land use planning/zoning including policy analysis, environmental documentation, solid waste planning and entitlement, surface mining entitlement, transit planning, and demographic studies.

Carrie Wills' historic interests have evolved in myriad directions over the years leading her from the jungles of Belize to the underground reaches of the Metro Muni line in San Francisco.

A member of the Register of Professional Archeologists since its inception and worked as a professional archeologist for more than 20 years, Carrie’s professional career is filled with adventures and discoveries. Her career started with pre-field assessments, archival research, pedestrian field surveys, and site evaluation. It eventually moved into a more advanced phases of site testing, data recovery, burial removals, and extensive archive analysis.

Carrie has evaluated sites and features for historic significance and prepared reports that comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). She has also evaluated and assessed historic structure and resources for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, California Register of Historical Resources and the Historic American Buildings Survey. In addition, Carrie has conducted consultations with Native American tribal representatives and has excellent working relationships with various government agencies. She has also provided feasible mitigation that protects significant resources while staying within budgetary constraints.

Carrie has been fortunate enough to work all throughout the United States and various parts of the world on fascinating projects. One of the most notable discoveries was at the Costco site in San Francisco where hundreds of intact bottles led to her fascination with historic bottles and their unique histories.
